- We reviewed migration and learned why birds fly in a V shape.
- We learned about hibernation and saw the different ways that bears, snakes, queen bumblebees and bats hibernate during the winter.
- Our grade 3 buddies played Roll & Cover with us. We had to roll a dice and find the same number of dots on the game board.
- In gym, we played Wax Museum. The Museum Curator had to catch the wax figures moving!
- In music, we closed our eyes and listened to different instruments. We had to use our listening ears to figure out which instrument made the sound.
Ask your Kindergartner:

- What does hibernation mean?
- What animals, reptiles and insects hibernate during the winter?

It’s come to our attention that you may be receiving an invoice or notification that you have outstanding fees for something called “Wool Mine”. This is an in-class experience we’ve booked with a local service provider to come in to our class to teach us the basics of wool felting.
In an effort to be on the ball and get our bookings in early, there was a slight miscommunication with the downtown office that posts our fees, and since they received them early, they’ve posted them early.
More details on the event are to follow (AM Kinder participates on April 24th, PM Kindergarten participates on April 17th) but you are welcome to pay the invoice any time between now and then.
If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you!

A Gentle Reminder
With the nice weather we've been having comes major melty puddles around our school and playground... despite our best efforts to remind little ones to stay away from the puddles, accidents tend to happen. It's for this reason (and others), that it's important your kinder has a spare set of clothes in their backpack, including spare socks! Thank you :)

Today in Kindergarten...
- AM and PM Kinders learned about the OWL & the GUARD DOG for Mindful Monday (feel free to watch the video with your child to further discussion). We talked about how we can sometimes feel when we don't understand something or when something is making us upset....sometimes we freeze, feel really nervous and/or we just give up. We learned about what the brain does during these times and a simple way to calm ourselves down and get our brains focusing again.
- AM and PM Kinders discussed different ways that we can learn best with concrete examples from within our own classroom (e.g., calming music, useful visuals, whole body listening, sharing ideas, using a chunky pencil to write with, having movement breaks/stretching, tracing over highlighted lines, eating healthy food at snack time, etc.).
- AM Kinders had gym today. They are continuing to practice their basketball skills.
- PM Kinders explored 3 part patterns. Ask me to show you a 3 part movement pattern!
- PM Kinders were read the book Mmmmmmm, Cookies! By Robert Munsch

To acknowledge Auburn Bay School’s participation in Pink Shirt Day tomorrow, February 26, and to continue the fight against bullying, students and staff will be encouraged to wear something pink. Pink became the color for standing up to bullying when two students in Nova Scotia stood up to bullying in their high school. A student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school and these students showed their support for him by buying pink shirts and encouraging other students to wear them.
Thank you for helping us to create an environment that is safe and supportive. Together we can make a difference.
